Cabbage Conference Joins
New York Show

The International Cabbage Conference will join the first Empire State Fruit and Vegetable Expo, planned for Feb. 9-12, 2004. A tour of cabbage production locations in Western New York will take place on Feb. 9, followed the next day by an all-day session on cabbage. During the Wednesday morning session of the Expo, participants will have the opportunity to learn more about cole crops other than cabbage.

The International Cabbage Conference is a joint venture between New York and Ontario and typically takes place every three to four years. This is the first time the cabbage conference will be joining another conference.

The Empire State Fruit and Vegetable Expo is the first combined show of the New York State Vegetable Growers Association (NVSVGA), the New York Horticultural Society, the New York State Berry Growers Association and the Empire State Potato Growers. The show will take place at the Riverside Convention Center in Rochester, N.Y.

Attendance for the new show is expected to be double that of the vegetable growers show with room for twice as many exhibitors. Many special promotions are expected for the show.

The theme for the Expo is “Growing for the Health of New York.” Jeff and Lindy Kubecka from NYSVGA will be the show managers, while Cornell University Cooperative Extension will coordinate the education sessions.

For more information call the Kubeckas at (315) 687-5734.
