Name Chosen for Combined Show

The largest combined fruit, vegetable and farm marketing show in the country now has a name.

The first Great Lakes Fruit, Vegetable and Farm Market Expo will be held Tuesday through Thursday, Dec. 4-6, 2001. All events will be held in the Grand Center and the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel in Grand Rapids, Mich.

The expo is a combination of the Michigan State Horticultural Society’s (MSHS) annual meeting and the Great Lakes Vegetable Growers Convention and Farm Market Show sponsored by the Michigan Vegetable Council (MVC).

Each organization will hold one more convention before the new show. The last Great Lakes Vegetable Growers Convention and Farm Market Show will be held Tuesday through Thursday, Jan. 9-11, 2001. The last MSHS annual educational program and trade show, commonly known as the “hort show,” will be held Dec. 5-7, 2000, in Grand Rapids.

A special planning committee made up of three board members of the MVC and the MSHS, plus the executive secretaries of both organizations, have been working out details of combining the two shows.
