Great Lakes Show
Will Be Week Earlier

Participants in the Great Lakes Vegetable Growers Convention and Farm Market Show should be aware that there is a change coming before the big change next year, when the show will merge with the Michigan State Horticultural Society annual meeting.

The vegetable conference will be held Tuesday through Thursday, Jan. 9-11, 2001, which is approximately one week earlier than the time it has been traditionally held.

The dates for the first combined fruit and vegetable show are Tuesday through Thursday, Dec. 4-6, 2001. All events will be held in the Grand Center and the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel in Grand Rapids, Mich.

A special planning committee made up of three board members each of the Michigan Vegetable Council and the Michigan State Horticultural Society, plus the executive secretaries of both organizations, has been working out details of combining the two shows.

“In concept, things are pretty well settled. But there are plenty of details underneath that have to be put together,” said Dave Smith, executive secretary of the Michigan Vegetable Council.

The trade show will be combined and educational sessions will be open to all those attending, regardless of which organization they may be a member of.
